Pakistan Flood Relief Donation

Since the flooding in Pakistan began in late July 2010, approximately 20 million people have been displaced, with at least 4 million homeless. It was reported that an area larger than England has been submerged in water, in what United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called a bigger global disaster than tragedies such as the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Three of Pakistan’s four provinces have been affected, beginning with Frontier province in the northwest, Punjab province in the northeast, and finally Sindh province in the southeast. Approximately 140,000 Pakistani villages have been wiped out.
The latest death toll in Pakistan has been reported at 1600, however this number is based on a count that does not take into account what will be revealed once the waters have receded. This is also a number that does not reflect deaths that are expected to mount given water-borne diseases, starvation, and lack of proper medical treatment. According to the World Health Organization, six million Pakistanis are in need of life-saving assistance.
The Government of Canada has announced that it will double all funds donated to registered Canadian charities, up to September 12, 2010.
This means that every dollar you contribute, will be doubled and placed into the government’s ‘Pakistan Floods Relief Fund’.
